Katie joined the Emmis Community Outreach team with a passion for mass media and its power to positively affect the world.
Katie began her career in media at a St. Louis news station, FOX 2 KTVI, as an intern. Her time at KTVI was spent in the promotions department, helping to write news briefs and assisting in both on-air broadcasts and the execution of major station community events. It was through this experience that Katie developed a passion for media. Katie went on to intern for one of Emmis St. Louis’ radio stations, KSHE 95, coordinating and assisting in station events and remote broadcasts. Katie spent the next few years working as the stage manager for Metro Sports-Time Warner Cable. At Metro Sports she was able to combine her love of media and Mizzou athletics by managing sponsorships and executing pre- and post-game broadcasts. Katie also interned with FOX Sports Midwest, undertaking a variety of production responsibilities including writing highlights for the St. Louis Cardinals post-game show. After graduating from the University of Missouri – Columbia, Katie went to work as an intern in the Corporate Sponsorship department of the St. Louis Blues Hockey Club before joining the Community Outreach team at Emmis St. Louis.
Since joining the Community Outreach team, Katie has worked with clients such as The Salvation Army, Siteman Cancer Center, Prairie Farms, St. Louis City Department of Health, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. She helped develop and spearhead the wellness program Small Changes for Health, which has since won an award from the Center for Sales Strategy for Best Case Study.
Beyond her experience in television and radio, Katie has always been active in the community, volunteering at Columbia Second Chance (a no-kill animal shelter), Big Brothers Big Sisters, raising money for Multiple Sclerosis, and going on service immersions to La Chinantla, Mexico and Harmons, Jamaica. Katie is looking forward to utilizing her diverse background and love for the media industry with her passion for positively impacting the community.
Katie graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and minors in Business and Sociology.
